You can't factor cos^2(x) -cos(x)+1 = 0 nicely, so you have to try the quadratic formula: cos(x) = [1 +or- sqrt( (-1)^2 - 4(1)(1) ) ] / 2(1) which gives you a negative under the square root and therefore no solutions unless you get into imaginary numbers.

Any of you guys good at maths?

I need some help with some quadratic trigonometry. I need to factorise sin^2(x) = 2 - cos(x) So, I’ve changed it to 1 - cos^2(x) = 2 - cos(x) [because sin^2 + cos^2 = 1] And then I juggled it around and got to cos^2(x)-cos(x)+1=0 But I’m stuck, because it looks like I can’t seem to factorise cos^2(x)-cos(x)+1 Does anybody know what I did wrong? ‘Cause I sure...
